Reviews
Damn Cat embodies everything you’d want in a book. Smart eclectic characters, a world we want to be immersed in, a relationship so real it’s painful (in a good way.) Makes you think. I couldn’t put it down until the end. A must read from a talented writer who weaves the perfect story line. Five stars all the way! Scott D. Maggie and Carter Ferris were a married couple. At the beginning of the story, the two were having a row over their lost Persian Himalayan cat, Buttercup. Since the cat ran away from home, the two have never stopped fighting. To appease his wife and hopefully fix their relationship, Carter went on a mission to find Buttercup and bring him home. In his quest to find his wife's cat, a humorous and almost absurd adventure awaits Carter. Will it also reveal things about their relationship that even they aren't aware of?Damn Cat by Ernest Mirich is a novella that, on the surface, plays on the comical and borderline absurd narrative surrounding a quarreling married couple and their missing cat. The search triggered a series of humorous events, culminating in a heartwarming conclusion. The idea behind this book is simply amazing. It was as if the story was dressed in a ridiculous wrapper without anyone knowing that underneath it all were some serious issues relevant to the couple's relationship. It is a comedic story with so many layers, which I absolutely adored.
The dialogue flowed naturally, which made the characters feel believable. The narrative has a seamless flow with a balance of humor and drama. There isn't anything to dislike about the book. It was a wise decision to make it a novella because I couldn't imagine a longer narrative where the story needed to be dragged. I liked exactly the way it was written. I didn't find a single error, so I can vouch for the book's exceptional editing. Overall, I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars for the witty dialogue and the seamless plotline. I wouldn't change a thing about this book and would heartily recommend it to anyone in the mood for a short, comical, but intelligently written story. JUSTINE OCSEBIO - HTTPS://ONLINEBOOKCLUB.ORG/
